Found: Love Ring (Stanick Style)

If anybody has ever seen any of Lorraine Stanicks YouTube videos (The Current Custom or The Current Boobies) or read her blog I'm sure you'll be well aware, and probably seeking her much loved 'Love' ring by Sydney Evan.

Personally, I cannot justify buying a $620 ring to myself, or more importantly the BF, so I am making do with this love ring I found in Dorothy Perkins, in store and online for just £4!

Tick Tock . . .

I have really wanted a boyfriend watch for around two years, so when I got a little extra in my wages this week I decided to treat myself.

I looked around and the best one I have found was this one from ASOS, for only £26!

However, I am undecided whether I like it or not?!? I do love the size but I'm scared it looks a little cheap and tacky. What do you think, should I send it back or keep it?

Hair Heroes and Villains!!

This month I decided to have a good clear out of any products I have had past the recommended amount of months (shown on most products by a number followed by 'M' in a little tub symbol near the small print), as well as any products that I haven't used in the last 3 months. The result of this; a shopping trip to replace all the products that didn't survive the eviction process!

HERO
When blow-drying or straightening my hair I always use a protection spray, to not use one makes me feel really guilty. I chose the got2b guardian angel heat protection spray by Schwarzkopf (mentioned in my previous post) for two not-so logical reasons, firstly because it's new and secondly, the bottle is really nice! This spray smells absolutely divine, if anyone has coloured their hair with Scwarzkopf products, it is a much more subtle scent which is left after colouring, I want to say it smells like marzipan but I don't think it does (if that helps?!). That said, the smell doesn't actually stay on your hair after it is dry, unfortunately. I have also noticed my hair is super shiny after using this product and I believe the price was really good too (around £2.50).
VILLAINOf course I also needed hairspray and chose Garnier's Fructis Style Bamboo Flexihold, Shine and Hold in Extra Strong - what a mistake! I have used Fructis products in the past and their shampoo and conditioner made my hair super greasy but being the reasonable, forgiving girl I am, I decided to give this hairspray the benefit of the doubt. However, after spending around 40 minutes curling my hair I sprayed on a layer of this hairspray only for it to stay wet on my hair for what must have been 10 minutes or more, meaning it weighted down my curls leaving my hair a straggly, gunky mess. I found that this hairspray never really dried but just stayed sticky in my hair, not nice!
HERO So with my head down I made another trip to the shops to get my old favourite. Now, I have always been advised by my hairdressers not to use Tresemme products as they are a watered down version of the Salon products they claim to be, but I must admit I have not found a hairspray yet that can beat Treseeme's Salon Finish extra hold! In the future I will not be tempted by other shiny, colourful cans but I will stay true to Tresmme (for a while atleast).

HERO
Another brand I have been warned against by hairdressers is Pantene. It coats your hair with a layer of plastic (apparently), but whilst being rushed by the BF I had to make a quick decision Pantenes aqua light just so happened to be nearest and I am now glad that it was. This shampoo and conditioner is the best of the Pantene range, in my opinion, it really does make your hair feel light and soft and could compete with the more expensive brands I usually invest in, a definite contender for future purchases!
So, what are your favourite hair products?
I would like to try the Aussie range again as although I did not like it the first time around (many years ago) I have been hearing great things, would you recommend it?
What are your top tips for choosing new products?

Why can't I be someone else?

Just recently I have had so many moments when I have said things I wished I hadn't. It has left me with a dreaded feeling in my stomach and makes me feel like I can't ever leave the house again. For instance on returning a call from my supervisor at work:

Supervisor: 'Hello'

Me: 'Oh hello, it's Rose'

Supervisor: 'Hello, how are you?'

Me: 'I'm well thanks, is that Suzanne?'

Supervisor 'No, it's Jayne'

Me: 'Oh I didn't recognise your voice, you sound like Suzanne'

Supervisor: '. . . . . . . . . . . . '

Me: 'I got your message . . '

Supervisor: 'Just phoning to let you know we have your I.D badge'

Me: 'Oh thanks, I'm always losing that'

WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!

Firstly I think I offended her by saying she sounded like someone else, even though she did, Jayne actually has a very posh accent which I am sure she has worked hard on over the years whereas Suzanne . . . . . does not.

Secondly, as if I claim I am always losing my I.D badge!! I don't even know why I said that, it's dropped off my uniform once or twice because the clasp is loose, I may aswell have said, I leave it laying around for all and sundry to enter the building, your workplace is at major threat with me as an employee.

The only thing I can wish for is that either a) in a few days when I'm back at work I won't care or b) Jayne will have forgotten the conversation.

I hope it is both :-(

Does everybody else have moments like these?

There's no place like home.

Due to the weather in England being particularly dreary this summer, it has made me very thankful for the days, or hours, when we have been blessed with a little bit of sun.

Here of some photos, taken a couple of weeks ago, a few minutes from my home.

Colour B4: Take 2!

This week I have been really unimpressed with how my hair colour turned out (see previous post). It was still quite dark and rather red, not the light brown I had been craving!

Today is the first chance I have had to attempt to correct it, (I have to wait for the boyfriend to be at work so he can't nag at me to be careful in his beautiful bathroom whilst slapping dye on).

So, here goes. Again I'm using Scott Cornwalls Colour B4.

After this application my hair went alot blonder than it did the first time I used it, which begs the question, is this truely restoring my natural hair colour - medium brown (I think), or simply lightening my hair?

Anyway Phase 2:

The application of Clairol Perfect 10 in shade Medium Ash Blonde, fingers crossed!!
The results . . .

Rid the Red with Colour B4.

Colour B4 is a new product and claims to be the first of it's type - to actually shrink dye molecules on the hair and safely remove them, basically stripping the hair of any previous dye to it's natural state. Too good to be true eh? Well lets just see!

This picture was taken yesterday and I was mortified to see my apparently Chocolate brown dyed hair (L'Oreal Excell10) shining bright red on all of the photos, not to mention the brassy tinge so I concluded I had nothing to loose by stripping my hair using Colour B4 followed by a nice light brown (no red!).

Points about this product:
1. The instruction leaflet is thorough - perhaps a little patronising. The Q&A section was very helpful.
2. There are a lot of steps and atleast 15 mins rinsing time, make sure you have plenty of time (and hot water) before you start the process.
3. The smell ain't good, it's not that overpowering chemical smell but, in my opinion, it's a bit like baby sick.
4. During rinsing I was expecting to see a rainbow of all of the dyes I have used over the years stream from my hair - the water was clear.
5. I was warned my hair would go ginger/orange due to the highlights and red shades I have used over the years, however I don't think it turned out that bad!

So, there was an orange glow but not unbearable. What I wanted from this product was for my hair to be light enough and the red colour to be removed so as to recolour with a nice plain light brown.

I chose to apply Perfect10 in Dark Blonde after the Colour B4 - yes, you can dye your hair again, straight away! I always chose hair dyes a shade lighter than the colour I wish to achieve as the colour is always darker than the boxes lead you to believe.

And this is the end result. Dark blonde? No. Dark? Yes. Happy me? The jury is still out, I wish I had chosen a medium ash blonde instead of a dark to acheive a lighter result and an ash shade would have got rid of the warm tones from my hair that are still apparent. That said, Colour B4 can be used up to three times in succession so maybe I'll try again next week?

What's New Pussycat?

For the past few months I have been trying to convince 'the boyfriend' we should get a cat. I finally resigned to the idea that this was never going to happen until last weekend when I went to my sisters and saw her two beautiful kittens; Lilly-May and Pepper.

However, I have now spent four days on Project Kitten to no avail. So it's time to face the truth, no kitty for me, maybe I should try for a goldfish instead.

The Weight of the World

I should be really excited this week about spending the upcoming weekend with my family as it is my sisters birthday and we are having a slumber party - grown up stylee', however my excitement is dampened by the four little numbers that flash on my scales.

Instead of looking forward to catching up on gossip and shinanigans back home, I am obsessing about what to wear to hide the flab and how to handle any conversations about weight - mine/others/loss/gain.

I wish I wasn't thinking about it and could just look forward to being around those who care about me instead of worrying what they may think/say about my waistline.

Fingers crossed it will all be ok.

Don't volumise (or) 'millionise' . .

I have never thought of myself as particularly naive, so when I so whaen I first saw Eva Longoria flash her millionised lashes I thought I'll get myself some of those!

Imagine my disappointment when I raced home with my new L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara to discover I only got the wrong ruddy colour, brown instead of black - doh! This said I would not have thought that this colour mix up would have made such a lack of an impact on my lashes, I can barely see my lashes even with coats of this mascara on, not to mention there is no 'pop' when I remove the brush. The excess wiper only sends all of the excess product on to the end of the mascara wand in a big blob - nice!

Now this could be due to me being used to lovely black mascara and that this one is brown or simply that the product is just not up to much, I don't know and I don't intend on spending another £10.99 to find out.

Never the bridesmaid. Never the bride.

Last week was my best friends wedding, so I thought I'd show you what I wore. . .

For the hen do I got this black number from USC for £35.00.

As you can see, ala Nicola Roberts I embraced my paleness. I wore Girls Aloud (Kimberly Walsh) lashes, which are amazing and stuck in some clip on extensions, we had a fantastic night!

I was not so happy with the dress I wore for the wedding, I happened to be working nightshifts on A&E the week before so had to shop online and settled for this lacy dress, once again, from USC.

However, as I am a curvy girl and it was freezing on the big day I had to team it with a black belt and a black cardigan.

I wasn't particularly happy with the way I looked but the day wasn't about me so I had to grin and bear it. It was after all, a great day to remember!
